Following the activation of the borough fire box, members of the Trough Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Company responded to a reported generator and shed fire on May 20.

According to officials, Engine 21 arrived at a single-story commercial healthcare building with no obvious fire conditions within three minutes of being sent. Firefighters found a melted circulation motor and a broken antifreeze line as they extended a hoseline to the outside of the building, where a big generator was situated.

Crews secured electrical power to the generator and shut down the propane fuel supply to eliminate potential hazards. During the incident, facility staff reported an unusual odor inside the building. Firefighters conducted atmospheric monitoring and detected low levels of carbon monoxide. The structure was ventilated for approximately 20 minutes until readings returned to normal.

Chief 21 held the response to department units, with Engine 21, Tanker 21, and Special Unit 21 operating at the scene with a total manpower of 12 firefighters.
