On June 10, 2025, just before 1700 hours, a box was transmitted for the report of a dwelling fire at 3 Diston Ct., in Mt. Laurel, NJ. MLFD Battalion Chief Chris Santone arrived and reported a large volume of fire showing from Division A of a two story single family dwelling. BC Santone ordered the first due engine, Mt. Laurel Engine 3631, to stretch a 2 1/2” attack line to knock down the large body of fire in the garage area before initiating 1 3/4” lines to be stretched for the interior attack. BC Santone performed his 360 and spoke with an occupant of the house who indicated that everyone in the house was able to exit with the exception of a family pet. All companies were placed in service. Crews did quick work of knocking down the heavy fire, but the fire had extended to the second floor, so the crews stretched 1 3/4” handlines to the interior to extinguish the fire that extended to the second floor. Searches were made to confirm everyone got out and the family dog was rescued. It is reported that a neighbor’s vehicle backed out of its driveway and crashed into the side of the garage at 3 Diston Court causing the fire. An unnamed person was found dead inside the crashed vehicle. The incident is being investigated as a motor vehicle incident that led to a house fire. No other injuries were reported and the incident remains under investigation by the Mt. Laurel Bureau of Fire Prevention and Mt. Laurel Police Department. Units from Medford, Westampton, Hainesport, Cinnaminson, and Lumberton assisted the Mt. Laurel Fire Department.
