Vacant Dwelling Fire in City of Newburgh Goes to Three Alarms

Newburgh, NY - The City of Newburgh FD responded to a reported structure fire at 197 First Street on the morning of June 17th. Newburgh FD Car 4 arrived just after 7:30 A.M. with smoke and fire showing from a vacant dwelling and requested a second-alarm. Mutual Aid that responded to the scene included West Point-Ladder, Air National Guard-FAST Team, Good Will FD-Engine, and Vails Gate-Ladder. Flames were seen on the second floor and then the roof. Firefighters used hand lines to put out the fire. Newburgh's Ladder was in front while Vails Gate's Ladder operated on South Miller Street. City of Newburgh Police and Mobile Life ALS were also at the scene. The fire is currently under investigation.
