WOODBRIDGE, NJ - On Thursday, June 12th at approximately 8:30 P.M., Woodbridge and Port Reading fire departments were dispatched to the 500 block of Alice Place in Woodbridge Proper for a reported structure fire.

As units were responding, multiple callers were reporting that a column of smoke was visible, and there was fire showing from the home. A working fire was transmitted.

Upon arrival, Woodbridge units were met with the first-floor fully involved on a 2.5-story single-family residential home with exposure issues. A first-alarm was struck that was quickly followed by a second-alarm, bringing multiple departments to the scene to assist.

Crews led off with a hand line and deck gun due to the exposures. Multiple hose lines were stretched, knocking down a bulk of the fire from the exterior before making an aggressive interior attack to extinguish all remaining fire on divisions 1 and 2. All departments operated on scene for several hours before being returned.

Crews from Woodbridge, Port Reading, Avenel, Hopelawn, Perth Amboy & Edison, Woodbridge Township MAC coordinators and Woodbridge Police responded. The Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad and Woodbridge Township CERT provided rehab.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Woodbridge Fire Prevention Bureau.
