CHESTER, CT — June 5th — In response to a reported brush fire on Selden Island, Chester Hose Company Inc. helped Lyme Fire Company on Friday night. Essex Fire Engine Co. #1 and the Deep River Fire Department participated in the response, which was organized by Valley Shore Emergency Communications.

Marine units were utilized to deliver firemen, equipment, and water to the area because the fire was on an island. In order to confine the fire and stop it from spreading farther throughout the area, crews collaborated. The event brought to light the importance of maritime firefighting skills and mutual aid partnerships throughout the Connecticut River. Crews stayed on the scene until operations were finished, and no injuries were recorded.
