Brookhaven N.Y.- On Sunday, June 7th, the Brookhaven Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire on Montauk Highway.
Second Assistant Chief John Hodge Jr. arrived on scene first and conducted an initial investigation, locating a fire in a bedroom of a two-story home situated on a flag lot. Assistant Chief Hodge promptly advised Chief of Department Giuseppe Loiacono and Suffolk County Dispatch of his findings, and requested that a working fire assignment be transmitted.
First-due engine crews arrived shortly thereafter and were able to make a quick knockdown of the fire, preventing further extension within the residence.
Mutual aid was provided on scene by the Bellport, Mastic, Mastic Beach, and Yaphank Fire Departments, with the Center Moriches Fire Department standing by for additional coverage. South Country Ambulance was also on scene, providing EMS standby and firefighter rehabilitation services.
No injuries were reported. All units were able to return to service in approximately one hour.
