Newburgh FD responded to a apartment filling up with smoke at 162 Johnston Street on the Fifth Floor on June 6. Firefighters arrived requested hire back 

Engine One-Ladder was raised to fifth floor-firefighters knocked down fire-firefighters had to carry hose to fifth floor as no stand pipes are there.  Firefighters then 

vented the apartment and thru items out rear of apartment. Origin/Cause was called to scene. Firefighters manned truck ten to cover calls in city-as city still 

not equiped with proper manpower on Engines in City/Newburgh. Fire is under investigation. Newburgh PD/Empress EMS was at scene.
