Mastic NY- On Memorial Day the Mastic FD held their annual Memorial Day services at both the Mastic memorial on Montauk Highway near Herkimer street and the Mastic FD HQ. At the Mastic Monument they were joined by their neighboring departments including Mastic Ambulance, Brookhaven FD, Shirley Ambulance, and Center Moriches fire department as well as other community members a groups. Wreaths were laid as well as a flag raising ceremony and taps being played. The ceremony was then brought to a close by the chaplains. Since this year’s parade from the memorial to HQ was cancelled due to the on going prevalence of COVID 19 members were then advised to report directly to the Fire Department HQ where a second ceremony was held to remember those department members who were lost. All together both services lasted a combined time of about 1 hour
