Sprinkler System Helps Contain Exton House Fire; Resident Rescued

East Brandywine, PA - During the early morning hours of May 13, the East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to provide engine company assistance to the West Whiteland Fire Company for a reported house fire in the Exton Station development on Cassatt Court.

Initial reports indicated smoke was coming from a second-floor window and that a resident might still be inside the home. Engine 49-2 responded with a crew of five firefighters, accompanied by Utility 49-1.

Upon arrival, West Whiteland crews encountered smoke showing from the front door and immediately conducted a search of the residence. Firefighters quickly located and rescued a victim from inside the home, transferring the individual to awaiting EMS personnel for transport to a medical facility.

Fire crews deployed a 1¾-inch handline and initiated ventilation operations from the roof while additional firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Personnel from the Lionville and East Brandywine fire companies arrived shortly afterward and assisted with suppression and overhaul efforts.

Officials reported that the home's automatic sprinkler system operated as designed, helping to keep the fire under control until firefighters arrived. The fire was quickly extinguished, limiting further damage to the residence.

East Brandywine crews remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes before clearing the incident and returning to service
