All Hands High-Rise Fire in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, NY - On May 22nd just before 5:30 P.M., the FDNY dispatched units to Box 0685 for 561 2nd Ave., near 31st St., for a fire in a store. On arrival, a 10-77 was transmitted for a high-rise multiple-dwelling fire. Shortly after, the chiefs transmitted the all-hands high-rise fire. The fire was in a nine-story multiple-dwelling, and was quickly located in the cellar.
Units dispatched to the call included Engines 1, 14, 16, 21, 26 and 65, along with Ladders 2, 3 and 24, Tower Ladders 7 and 12, Battalions 6, 8 and 9, Division 1, Squad 18, Rescue 1 and High Rise 1. Numerous EMS resources were also on scene. No injuries were reported. Firefighters began taking up from the scene shortly after 6:00 P.M.
