Firefighters Extinguished Hayfield Fire Near Highway 334

NICHOLSON, GA — May 16th — When Nicholson Area Fire Rescue arrived at a reported hayfield fire along Highway 334, they discovered that about half an acre of vegetation was on fire. In order to stop the fire from spreading to nearby regions, firefighters promptly set up suppression lines. Before resuming operations, crews stayed on the scene to put out hot spots and make sure the area was secure.
In warm, dry weather, vegetation fires are prevalent and can spread quickly with wind assistance. According to officials, the incident was confined thanks to a quick reaction and well-coordinated suppression operations. Following the event, all responding units resumed their duties and no casualties were recorded.
