This happened as companies were already inbound from Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties. During the fire, evacuation tones were sounded twice with one of the activations being for live ammunition that was going off in the back bedroom in 723 Williams Ave. The fires took several hours to control, six people had to be relocated which included two children. There were no injuries to residents or firefighters; however, a dog was ok but a cat had perished. Assisting the Walnutport firefighters were Slatington, Lehigh Township, Emerald, Slatedale, Friedens, Germansville, Neffs, Palmerton, Aquashicola, Lehighton, Northampton, Woodlawn and Catasauqua.
