12-Acre Brush Fire Contained in Crystal River

Citrus, FL - Citrus County Fire Rescue crews responded to a brush fire in the area of W. 7 Rivers Dr. in Crystal River, where Battalion Chief 2 established command after locating a slow-moving fire burning in heavy fuels.


Additional units and the Florida Forest Service – Withlacoochee Forestry Center assisted with suppression efforts, working multiple flanks while forestry tractors supported containment.


The fire grew to approximately 12 acres before being contained later in the evening. Crews remained on scene conducting mop-up operations and checking for hotspots.


The fire is believed to have been caused by lightning. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
