Escambia, FL - The Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire on Willow Street, where crews initially found no visible exterior fire.

Further investigation revealed smoke coming from a bedroom windowsill, leading firefighters to locate a small fire burning within the wall. Crews quickly opened up the area and brought the fire under control, preventing further extension.

The fire was determined to have been caused by a lightning strike that traveled from a nearby metal fence post into the structure. No injuries were reported, and the damage was limited, allowing the home to remain occupied.
