FALL RIVER, MA – On Tuesday, June 3rd, firefighters were dispatched to 119 Emmett Street for a report of a fire and two people trapped on the second floor of a two-story wood-frame home, unable to escape.

Car 3 (Command) arrived on scene and reported fire on the first floor with heavy smoke throughout the structure. Firefighters from Engine 5 and Ladder 2 placed a ground ladder to a second-floor bedroom where the two occupants were trapped and assisted them down the ladder to safety. Both victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital, suffering from smoke inhalation.

The crew of Engine 4 stretched an attack line to the seat of the fire and extinguished all visible flames, while the crew of Heavy Rescue 1 conducted a primary search, which proved negative. Several pets were rescued, some requiring resuscitation.
