SANDESTIN, Fla. --- South Walton Fire District firefighters responded to a structure fire late Sunday, June 1, 2025, on Baytowne Avenue East in Sandestin.

The call originated at 10 p.m. when SWFD Dispatchers received reports of a home’s attic on fire. First-arriving firefighters found smoke showing from the residence once on- scene, then worked to make access to the attic space.

Responding crews spent several hours at the incident conducting vertical ventilation and overhaul in the home’s roof and ceiling to search for active fire and mitigate smoke.

No injuries were reported, but unfortunately, the fire caused a moderate amount of damage to the home.

The SWFD Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are conducting a joint investigation into the cause of the fire at the time of this release.

SWFD extends its thanks to all responding partner agencies throughout the incident, as well as its support to the impacted homeowners.
