On June 4, 2025, 09:57 hours, the Midway Fire District was dispatched to the Santa Rosa Sound regarding a report of a vessel in distress. The reporting party advised that their Jon boat had taken on water and was partially submerged. The vessel was occupied by four individuals—two adults, two children—and a dog. Midway Boat 35 located the vessel near the Pensacola Beach side of the sound, due south of Woodlawn Beach Road. All occupants were wearing life vests at the time of rescue. They were safely brought aboard Boat 35 and transported to the Woodlawn Beach Boat Ramp. Upon arrival at the ramp, Lifeguard EMS personnel evaluated all four occupants. No injuries were reported. An officer from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to the scene.
Boat 35 successfully recovered the distressed vessel.
