WAYNE, N.J. — May 19th — Along Interstate 80, close to Exit 54, firefighters from Community Volunteer Fire Company #1, Inc., located at 93-97 Parish Drive, responded to a brush fire. In order to prevent the fire from spreading into adjacent wooded areas, crews worked with Wayne Fire Company #2 and the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department. To put out hot areas and stop rekindles, firefighters finished significant mop-up operations.

Additionally, the Section A2 Firewarden of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service responded and helped with suppression operations. The coordinated reaction demonstrated how crucial it is for local and state agencies to work together and support one another in order to control vegetation fires and safeguard nearby property.
