This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

WETUMPKA, FL - Just after noon on Memorial Day several departments in Gadsden County were notified of a residential structure fire in the 300 block of Dusty Hunter Ln in Quincy. First arriving personnel reported a double wide mobile home with smoke and fire through the roof. The request immediately went out for additional manpower and water tankers due to the remote area this incident was in. While fireground operations were in full swing, the water shuttle operations became very important and three tankers were supplying the four engines handling the fireground.

Due to the amount of firefighters on the scene and the temperatures - rehabilitation became vital to keeping the crews working. Support Services Member Jennifer Ogden from Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department were able to provide hydration support and worked with the local Walmart who donated 5 cases of water and cases of Gatorade. Firefighter Joe Parramore from Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department got with the local McDonalds who donated burgers for the firefighters.

This incident lasted about 4 hours from initial notification until the last unit cleared the scene. Firefighters from Wetumpka Volunteer Fire Department, the City of Quincy Fire Department, the City of Midway Fire Department, Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department and Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department responded to incident.
