BLUE MOUNTAIN BEACH, Fla. – South Walton Fire District firefighters responded to a residential structure fire early Sunday morning in Blue Mountain Beach.
The incident originated around 2:30 a.m. when SWFD Dispatchers received a 911 call reporting smoke and flames were visible from a home under construction on Blue Wave Drive.
Firefighters arrived on-scene and encountered fire and smoke showing in a back corner of the residence, near an outdoor pool area. Crews worked to extinguish the flames and limit damage to the rest of the home.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
The SWFD Fire Marshal investigated the cause of the fire and preliminarily determined spontaneous combustion of staining materials could not be ruled out as the source. The area where the fire started suffered heavy damage, while the fire’s impact in the rest of the home was limited to smoke damage.
SWFD thanks the responding Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and mutual aid partners for their assistance throughout the incident. The District also extends its support to the impacted property owners.
