This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Scituate, RI - At approximately 3:17 a.m. on May 26, firefighters from all Scituate stations, along with Rescue 2, were dispatched to Talbut Road following reports of a residential structure fire. Tanker 61, Brush 63, and Unit 68 quickly responded to the scene as crews raced to contain the rapidly growing blaze.

First-arriving firefighters from the Hope & Jackson Fire Company transmitted a Code Red after encountering a heavily involved two-story wood-frame home fully engulfed in flames. Officials confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of emergency crews.

Due to significant structural collapse that had already occurred before firefighters arrived, crews were forced to conduct an exterior defensive operation for safety reasons. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the fire under control and prevent further hazards.

A total of 13 members from Chopmist Hill responded and remained on scene for approximately four hours assisting with suppression efforts and overhaul operations.

Apparatus operating at the incident included:

Scituate Fire Department: Engine 41, Engine 52, Tanker 61, Brush 63, Unit 68, and Unit 58.

Coventry Fire Department: Engine 4, Engine 7, Quint 1, Rescue 4, and Car 61.

Cranston Fire Department: Engine 5 and Battalion 2.

Fire officials extended their thoughts and prayers to the family affected by the devastating fire.
