This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

LEMPSTER, N.H. — May 6th — During a significant oil and gasoline spill reaction in Georges Mills Harbor that necessitated hazardous materials operations and a regional mutual assistance response, the Lempster Fire Department provided station coverage for Sunapee Fire. Lempster firemen provided emergency coverage within Sunapee while Sunapee personnel collaborated with multiple fire departments, the Mid-Western New Hampshire HazMat Team, and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

Lempster workers also handled a medical emergency during the assignment, which led to the transportation of one patient. Station coverage assignments, according to officials, support emergency response capabilities while departments handle prolonged situations. Before all units left the area later that afternoon, the spill response took several hours as workers attempted to contain and clean up the fuel leak.
