PITTSFORD, Vt. — May 22nd — A tractor trailer sustained damage and started to leak fuel, prompting the Pittsford Fire Department to react on Friday night to complaints of a diesel spill near Cortello Drive on Route 7. Ten firefighters, an engine, a rescue truck, and a utility vehicle arrived from the department's station at 152 Pleasant St. Near Kendall Hill Road, workers discovered a broken tractor trailer that was still actively leaking diesel gasoline due to a ruptured fuel tank.

Stretching northward toward the town boundary between Brandon and Pittsford, more spills were found. In order to limit the spill, firefighters used absorbent materials, blocked off a portion of the road, and helped with traffic management. Cleanup efforts were aided by the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources and the Vermont Hazardous Materials Response Team.
