Car Fire Shuts Down I-84 in Newtown

Newtown, CT - Newtown Hook & Ladder and Sandy Hook Vol. Fire & Rescue Co. were dispatched to a reported car fire on Tuesday, May 26th at 6:42 A.M. CT State Troopers advised firefighters that I-84 was shut down for them to access the fire. Sandy Hook's Engine 441 arrived on scene with Chief Bill Halstead and crew who confirmed a fully involved car fire. Firefighters pulled the trash line from the bumper of the engine and went to work extinguishing the fire, using 1000-gallons of water. Firefighters returned to service at 7:35 A.M.
