Atlantic City, NJ - The Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported kitchen fire at an occupied and operating restaurant on Sheridan Avenue, where initial attempts by staff to extinguish the flames were unsuccessful.
First-arriving units encountered smoke showing from the front entrance, while all occupants had safely evacuated prior to fire department arrival. A Working Fire assignment was requested, bringing mutual aid from neighboring departments.
Engine 733 stretched a handline and quickly located and extinguished the fire within a large commercial oven. Damage was primarily contained to the oven itself, which was destroyed, along with some water damage to the surrounding area.
No injuries were reported, and crews operated safely throughout the incident.
The department extends its thanks to all mutual aid partners for their assistance and wishes the business a speedy recovery and reopening.
