Woodland Park Responds to Car Fire with Two Exposure Buildings Also Involved in Fire

WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The West Paterson Fire Department responded to a reported car fire in the driveway of 47 Whippany Avenue off McBride located between two structures, May 23rd.
On arrival, a well-involved car was quickly spreading to adjacent structures. The fire extended to two homes, with extensive damage to the Exposure B and into Exposure D. Two hand lines were deployed and heavy fire was knocked down.
An additional hand line was stretched into the home on the right side of the car fire. Heavy fire was quickly knocked down, and crews began an interior operation.
Mutual aid from Little Falls, Totowa, and Paterson responded to the fire scene, and additional towns were called for house coverage. Searches were conducted of the two homes. Firefighters extinguished all visible fire in 15 minutes, but operated for two hours on scene with extensive overhaul.
