SPRINGWATER, NY - On Thursday, May 21, at 6:44 p.m., Springwater, Sparta and Livonia (FAST) fire departments were dispatched to a skid-steer loader on fire inside of a detached garage at 7780 Wheaton Hill Road in Springwater.

While enroute, Springwater command reported heavy black smoke in the sky and requested a second alarm, bringing an engine and ladder from Wayland and tankers from Hemlock and Richmond to the scene.

Upon arrival. firefighters found a heavily involved pole barn type structure, threatening a nearby home about 10 feet away.

Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to the home, with it only sustaining minor damage.

There were no injuries reported.

Also assisting at the scene were Livingston County EMS, Livingston County Emergency Management, Livingston County Sheriff's Office and NYSEG.
