Windsor Locks Fire holds Practical RIT Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On Saturday, May 6th, the Windsor Locks FD held Rapid Intervention Team practical training instructed by Connecticut Custom Fire Training LLC. WLFD personnel received hands-on training in use of the RIT air pack, pack conversions and packaging for removal, high point anchor removal with 2:1 MA systems, removal up stairs, removal out a basement window, and rapid gear removal for a firefighter in cardiac arrest. The day culminated with a real-time scenario of an entire company in distress with simulated smoke significantly decreasing visibility. The WLFD would like to thank the fire departments of Enfield Training Division for the use of an acquired structure, as well as CCFT for an incredible class that will better prepare our personnel to rescue our brothers and sisters in the event of a mayday.
