Vehicle Rollover and Fire Quickly Contained on Garden State Parkway
Bergen, NJ - At approximately 1:43 p.m. on 5/1/26, the Township of Washington Fire Department was dispatched to the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway for a reported vehicle rollover just north of Washington Avenue.
Upon arrival, Washington Township Police and Chief 45-2 confirmed that the driver had already exited the vehicle. The overturned vehicle was found on fire in a wooded embankment.
Engine 44 and Engine 43 arrived on scene and quickly extinguished both the vehicle fire and the surrounding brush. Fire crews conducted extensive overhaul operations and continued monitoring the area while the wreckage was removed by a towing company.
The Hillsdale Fire Department provided additional water supply and manpower during the incident. All responding agencies coordinated effectively, resulting in a swift and controlled response.
