Port Washington Firefighters Extricated Driver After Rollover Crash

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — 5th May — At the intersection of Barkers Point Road and Cow Neck Road in the Village of Sands Point, there was a reported motor vehicle accident involving an overturned vehicle with entrapment. The Port Washington Fire Department, located at 423 Port Washington Blvd in Port Washington, NY, United States, 11050, responded.


The car hit a power pole before overturning, according to Chief of Department Donald Reese. To safely free the trapped motorist, firefighters from Rescue 8522 removed a door and used hydraulic rescue equipment. The patient was taken to Manhasset's North Shore Hospital for assessment and care. Afterwards, authorities discovered that the driver had a medical emergency prior to the collision and is still in critical condition.
