The Brookhaven Fire Department responded to an automated fire alarm at a Brookhaven commercial establishment just after ten o'clock on May 4.

When the department's duty team arrived on Monday night, they discovered smoke coming from a garage bay door, according to officials. Within seven minutes of being dispatched, Engine 2 firefighters swiftly established an assault line and put water on the fire. While personnel looked for potential occupants and fire extensions, firefighters from Engine 8, Engine 5, and Rescue 3 helped with extinguishment operations.

The Bellport Fire Department, Mastic Beach Fire Department, Mastic Fire Department Chemical Company No. 1, and Yaphank Fire Department were asked for mutual aid support. On the scene, the South Country Ambulance offered firefighter rehabilitation services.

The incident was later turned over to the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal's Office for investigation.
