Cicero Firefighters Extinguish Garage Fire on Thompson Road

The Cicero Fire Department and mutual aid organizations responded to a reported residential garage fire in the 8000 block of Thompson Road at around 8:21 p.m. on April 24.


Callers reported that the detached garage fire began during welding activities, according to officials. Heavy smoke and flames were seen from the building, according to arriving units from the South Bay flames Department and the Cicero Police Department.


Before finishing overhaul operations, firefighters swiftly contained the fire in about 20 minutes. Shortly after 9:10 p.m., the scene was cleared by crews.


Mutual aid assistance was provided by the East Syracuse Fire Department, Mattydale Fire Department, North Syracuse Fire Department, and the North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Officials said no additional information on injuries was released.
