Fall River, Ma. Around 7:00 pm. on Monday May 19th Fall River Firefighters responded to 66 Merritt Street for a reported fire. Car 1 ( Chief of the Department ) was in the area and arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the soffits in a single story wood frame home. Car 1 reported all occupants were out of the building and made incoming units aware that he had a hydrant directly across the street from the fire building. Crews entered the structure and found fire in the attic and quickly knocked down all visible fire. Command called for the fire investigation unit as well as the building inspector to respond to the scene. Command held the north end task force and released all other incoming units.
