Second Floor Blaze Quickly Controlled; Multiple Occupants Transported

East Hartford, CT - The East Hartford Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at a single-family residence on Whiting Road, arriving to find heavy fire showing from the second floor.
Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack, bringing the fire under control within approximately 20 minutes of arrival. During the incident, one occupant sustained burn injuries and was transported by the Ambulance Service of Manchester to a local hospital. Two additional occupants were later transported for fire-related injuries.
Firefighters also encountered multiple pets inside the home. Several dogs were lost due to smoke inhalation, while others were successfully rescued.
The fire remains under investigation by the East Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office. Mutual aid coverage during the incident was provided by the Manchester Fire Department and the Hartford Fire Department.
