First Due Success: New Squad’s First Working Fire Put to the Test

Demarest, NJ - The Demarest Fire Department Squad Company operated on a mutual aid assignment to Norwood for a working house fire on Seventeenth Street.

Upon arrival, the Squad secured its own water supply, taking a hydrant to the rear of the structure on the adjacent block. Crews stretched four handlines through the backyard, playing a key role in fire suppression efforts.

Members remained on scene for just under four hours before returning to the Borough.

This incident marks the first working fire response for the department’s new Squad since being placed into service.
