THE VILLAGES, FL - At 3:55pm on May 14, 2025, The Villages Fire Department was dispatched to Fechtel Avenue near Geiger Lane in the Village of Newell for a residential fire. First units on scene found a fire in the mulch between two homes that included the siding of one of the houses that also housed the utilities. Fortunately the fire did not extend to the interior of the structure and the incident was quickly put under control.
