WALTHAM, MA - Waltham Fire dispatched C-2 to 14 Fern Street on May 13 to investigate a chemical spill. After Deputy Paul Quaranto determined there was a mercury spill he requested Engine 4 and Medic 1. Protocol required the state Department of Fire Services Hazardous Material Response unit responded and determined the chemical was mercury and removed it for proper disposal. There were no injuries.
