Oxford Crews Assist Ansonia During Mutual Aid Response

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

OXFORD, CT — May 2nd — In order to provide station coverage during an ongoing emergency, the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company was sent to the City of Ansonia on a mutual assistance assignment. In order to help firefighters with ongoing operations, Engine 42 and Car 1 were diverted to the area while in way.

Before moving to Eagle Hose Company No. 6 to continue providing coverage for the city, Oxford firefighters stayed on the scene until about 5:30 a.m. This kind of mutual assistance response enables nearby departments to continue providing emergency response and fire protection while local firefighters continue to focus on major crises. Emergency efforts across the region still heavily rely on regional departmental collaboration.
