Basement Fire Extends Rapidly in Multifamily Residence
Ansonia, CT - While operating at a separate gas-related incident, Ansonia firefighters were alerted to a reported smoke condition in the area of Clark Street.
Upon arrival, command encountered heavy smoke and quickly located a working basement fire in a multifamily residence.
Due to the building’s balloon-frame construction, fire spread rapidly throughout the structure, prompting an upgraded response.
Firefighters from Ansonia and Derby worked aggressively to bring the fire under control and conducted extensive overhaul operations to ensure complete extinguishment.
Mutual aid assistance was provided by Seymour, Oxford, and Derby fire departments.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ansonia Fire Marshal’s Office.
