ANSONIA, CT — May 2nd — Eagle Hose & Hook & Ladder Co. members. Following complaints of a smoke condition in the neighborhood, #6 responded to Clark Street. When Deputy Chief DeLucia arrived, he saw a multifamily home with a basement fire and a lot of smoke. The building's balloon-frame design caused the fire to spread swiftly into hidden areas.

While crews finished substantial overhaul operations, firefighters from Ansonia and Derby battled to contain the fire. Seymour and Oxford mutual help departments also provided on-the-spot support and suppression assistance. During the event, no injuries were recorded. The Ansonia incident Marshal's Office is still looking into what caused the incident.
