ANSONIA, CT - Following complaints of a smoke condition in the neighborhood on May 2nd, firefighters responded to Clark Street. When Deputy Chief DeLucia arrived, he saw a multi-family home with a basement fire and a lot of smoke. The building's balloon-frame design caused the fire to spread quickly into hidden areas. While crews finished substantial overhaul operations, firefighters from Ansonia and Derby battled to contain the fire. Seymour and Oxford mutual aid departments also provided support and suppression assistance. During the event, no injuries were reported. The Ansonia incident Marshal's Office is looking into what caused the fire.
