Fire units arrived to find heavy fire from the rear of a two-story house. An exterior fire attacked was initially used to control the bulk of the fire. Firefighters then transitioned to an interior fire attack. The house sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with immediate housing and personal items.
Henrico Fire Marshal’s personnel are on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
Henrico Fire would like to remind everyone; “Smoke Alarms DO Save Lives”. Smoke alarms older than 10 years should be replaced. Consider replacing your smoke alarms with a 10-year lithium battery, this will eliminate the need to replace batteries each year.
