Pomfret, VT - Pomfret-Teago Volunteer Fire Department responded to a downed power line on the Barnard/Pomfret line that sparked a fast-moving brush fire in dry, high fire danger conditions.
The fire burned approximately one acre of dense, uphill forest fuel before crews arrived.
Working in coordination with Barnard and Broad Brook Fire Departments, firefighters quickly contained the spread and prevented a larger-scale wildland incident.
The prompt mutual aid response was key to bringing the situation under control safely and efficiently.
Residents are reminded that downed power lines should be reported immediately and that outdoor burning remains prohibited during periods of elevated fire danger.
