Mastic FD and EMS handle MVA

Mastic, N.Y. – On the evening of April 26, the Mastic Fire department was activated for a 2 vehicle MVA at Hawthorne & Riverside. It was reported that one of the vehicles may have hit a pole. Mastic Fire Department Chief of Dept Steve Januszkiewicz and Assistant Chief Rudy M. Sunderman responded to the scene of the crash. On arrival it was reported that no one was trapped.
A crew from Engine 5-12-1 went to work securing the vehicles and cleaning up the fluid spill. Mastic Ambulance company responded with Ambulances 16 & 19 to the scene under the command of their Lieutenant. At least 1 person was taken to a local hospital by Mastic Ambulance. Mastic FD Fire Police unit 5-12-80 assisted with traffic control in the area. The scene was turned over to Suffolk Police a short time later.
