TIVERTON, RI - Tiverton firefighters joined a large-scale mutual aid response to a scrap metal fire in Westport, May 5th, as flames at the Mid City facility escalated and drew departments from across the region.

Crews also worked to contain multiple brush fires along Davies Road, believed to have been sparked by wind-driven embers from the original incident.

Firefighters remained on scene through the night, working to bring the situation under control.

While on-duty personnel operated at the incident, off-duty Tiverton members staffed local stations.
