Regional Response Tackles Massive Scrap Yard Fire and Spreading Brush Blazes

Tiverton, RI - Tiverton firefighters joined a large-scale mutual aid response to a significant scrap metal fire in Westport, as flames at the Mid City facility escalated and drew departments from across the region.


Crews not only battled the main fire but also worked to contain multiple brush fires along Davies Road, believed to have been sparked by wind-driven embers from the original incident.


Firefighters remained on scene through the night, working to bring the situation under control.


While on-duty personnel operated at the incident, off-duty Tiverton members staffed local stations to maintain continuous emergency coverage within the community.


Officials credited the coordinated effort and strong mutual aid network for managing the complex incident, highlighting the teamwork and dedication that protect surrounding communities.
