Wind-Driven Brush Fire Contained After Multi-Agency Response in Amherst

Amherst, NH - Amherst Fire and EMS responded to a large wind-driven brush fire, deploying multiple apparatus including tanker, engine, forestry, and ambulance units alongside command staff.


Crews encountered rapidly spreading fire conditions driven by wind, requiring a coordinated and sustained suppression effort.


Through the combined work of responding agencies, the fire was brought under control after several hours.


The incident resulted in minor damage to a shed and the loss of one vehicle. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.


Mutual aid played a significant role in the operation, with assistance from numerous surrounding fire departments, law enforcement, and support agencies, including the New Hampshire Department of Forests and Lands and the American Red Cross.


Their coordinated response and strong interagency partnerships were instrumental in bringing the incident to a successful conclusion and protecting the community.
