OFR Responds to Residential Fire in SW Ocala

(OCALA, FL.) May 7, 2024 – On Tuesday, May 7th, Ocala Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at the 300 block of SW MLK Jr. Ave., around 4:00 p.m. Engines 1, 3, and 4, Squad 7, Rescue 1, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer responded to the reports of a driver passing by. 


Units arrived to find a small, single-story building with smoke emitting from the eaves of the residence. 


Engine 1 and Squad 7 were assigned to enter the building to begin the fire attack, while Rescue 1 completed a primary search to ensure no one was inside. Engine 3 laid their large-diameter hose line in preparation for the water supply, while Engine 4 set up for rapid intervention.


With the fire under control, Squad 7 completed a secondary search, confirming that the structure was unoccupied.


No injuries were reported.  


The cause of the fire is under investigation. 


OFR's Deputy Chief, the Fire Prevention Division, the Ocala Police Department, and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
