Raritan Fire Responds to Multiple Car Fires in Driveway

Just before 0200 on 5/3/15 Station 52 was dispatched to the area of 2nd Street and Anderson Street for a reported fire. While responding units received an update to respond to 2nd Ave just South of the railroad tracks for multiple cars on fire. Upon arrival units were greeted with heavy fire from 2 cars in a driveway. A detached garage was within 2 feet of the cars and a house was within 10 feet. Engine 52-3 deployed a 2.5 inch attack line to fight the fire. Upon arrival of Engine 52-2 established to a water source and deployed a 1.75 inch attack line to assist. All surrounding structures were checked for extension with negative findings. As crews repacked hose the wrecker removed the vehicles. All units were returned to service by 0325. Units on scene were Chief 52, Deputy Chief 52, Engine 52-2, Engine 52-3, Somerville Rescue Squad and Raritan Police.
