Multi-Alarm Brush Fire Burns Several Acres in Killington Area

Hartford, VT - Firefighters from the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department and multiple neighboring agencies responded to a rapidly spreading brush fire near Little Sherburne Road that ultimately burned approximately 3.5 acres in the Killington area.


As the fire expanded through wooded terrain, a second alarm was requested to bring in additional manpower and equipment from Woodstock Fire Rescue, Killington Fire Rescue, Plymouth Fire Rescue, Pomfret Teago Fire, and Barnard Fire.


Crews worked together to quickly contain the advancing flames and prevent the wildfire from threatening nearby structures.


After bringing the main body of fire under control, firefighters remained on scene conducting extensive mop-up operations and extinguishing hotspots to prevent rekindles.


Officials confirmed that no buildings were damaged and no injuries were reported during the incident.


Bridgewater Fire officials expressed appreciation to all mutual aid departments that assisted with the coordinated response.
